Teaching Series: Who is Jesus (Week 1 of 1)
Message in a sentence: It’s important that we get a proper view of Jesus from the Bible and not follow our own ideas about who He is.
Main Scripture: Colossians 1:15-19
Recently I saw this video and thought it was very interesting. There was something so simple, but vitally important about this video that I knew I wanted to show it to students. There was also discussion guide available to go along with the video, so it was perfect for Merge. Students broke up into small groups of 3 or 4 and answered questions in their small groups, then brought there answers to the large group.
There was some great discussion about who the world says Jesus is and why people get uneasy when you mention Jesus.
It’s very important that we as Christians get the correct view of Jesus and not follow our own ideas!
The passage we looked at last night, is one of my personal favorites, and it gives us such a bigger view of Christ than what we sometimes have.
What about you? What are your ideas about Christ based on? Are they based on your other thoughts and experiences or do they line up with the picture of Jesus that we see in Scripture.
I have included a link to the questions we asked last night. I encourage you to read the passage for yourself and then examine your own thoughts of who Christ is. It was a great exercise for students and myself alike.
